Karachi June 22 2021: Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) closes gas to all industries, other than exports, from Today till further notice, as per letter issued to Industrial units by SSGC.

Prime Minister keen to resolve energy issues through New Oil Refinery Policy
SSGC ensured uninterrupted gas supply to all industrial units despite facing a severe shortage in indigenous gas flows from the gas fields due to general depletion. However, now gas distribution company has to shut gas as country’s one of the most important gas field, Kunner Pasaki Deep (KPD) is on Annual Turn Around for 21 days.
KPD generate approximately 150 million cubic feet of gas per day, forms more than 10 percent of SSGC gas distribution demand.
The situation has become worse and top priority is to supply gas to domestic sector.This has been done in accordance with the Load Management Policy of October 2018. Closure of gas to industrial units will hurt economic activity that grew by 12.8 percent during first 10 months of 2021.
