Karachi August 24 2022: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that due to the recent rains and flood situation, more than 90% of Sindh’s crops have been completely destroyed, while the government no longer has tents for the victims.
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Sindh Chief Minister said that 23 districts, 101 tehsils, and 5181 villages have been affected by this flood while the loss of livestock cannot be estimated at this time. Syed Murad Ali Shah said that the Sindh government had 46,000 tents which have been given to the victims, while at present there is a need for 10,000 tents.
He said that the recent emergency is worse than the 2010 floods and the 2011 torrential rains in Sindh province, and such a major emergency has not happened in the province before.
The Chief Minister of Sindh said that he has appealed to the Federation for help and Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has assured him that the Federation will not leave Sindh’s side in this difficult time.
According to the overall data provided by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), the federal body responsible for dealing with natural disasters, and the provincial governments since June 14, due to floods and rains across the country for nearly two and a half months at least 903 deaths have been reported and 116 districts of the country have been affected.
