FDI inflows into UAE grow 3.9% in 2021 reaching AED76 billion

Karachi November 21 2022: Foreign direct investment (FDI) in Pakistan during October 2022 witnessed a net inflow of USD 94.9 million, compared to a net inflow of USD 247.3 million during October 2021, State Bank of Pakistan revealed today.

During October 2022, net FDI decreased by 61.6 percent year on year to USD 94.9 million. Moreover, in first four months of fiscal year 2023, which runs from July to June, foreign direct investment decreased by 52.1 percent to USD 348.3 million.

During October 2022, net inflow from China was witnessed at USD 17.6 million followed by USD 14.8 million from Switzerland.

UAE’s share in FDI remained the highest among investors with a share of 18.9 percent during October 2022 and value of USD 17.6 million compared with USD 34.7 million during the same period last year. Net inflow from Switzerland remained at USD 14.8 million during October 2022 compared with USD 11.2 million during same period last year.

During October 2022, a minor outflows were witnessed from the Japan of USD 1.2 million. A net outflow of USD 0.5 million was also witnessed from Norway during October 2022 followed by USD 0.2 million from Denmark.

During October 2022, net inflow in the power sector remained at USD 28.9 million followed by Financial Business Sector (USD 23.1 million) and the Communications Sector (USD 11.8 million).
