Islamabad May 24 2023: Secretary General of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Asad Umar has announced his resignation from all posts of the party.

Addressing a press conference at the National Press Club in Islamabad after his release from Adiala Jail, he said, “They condemn the violent incidents of May 9 and now the situation that has arisen after May 9, I am not capable of it.” So that I can lead, I resign from the General Secretary and the Core Committee.’

However, unlike other leaders, Asad Umar has not announced to leave the party. When he was asked if he considered Imran Khan as his leader, he said that what happened in the last 13 months, Imran Khan alone is not responsible. On the question regarding Imran Khan’s decisions, he said that it is for the people to decide whether Imran Khan made the right decisions or not.

According to Asad Umar, the most dangerous thing that happened on May 9 was the attack on installations belonging to the army. Referring to Imran Khan’s statement, he said that if Pakistan did not have an organized and principled army, our situation would be like that of other Islamic countries. According to him, Imran Khan had said that even if he did not remain the prime minister, he would remain in the army.

Asad Umar said that the events of May 9 are not only condemnable but also a tragedy. According to him, strong action should be taken against the people involved in these incidents. However, according to them, it is also important to release innocent people as soon as possible. According to Asad Umar, the scenes of that day touched my heart more because I have been associated with the army for three generations.

According to Asad Umar, the army is the biggest stakeholder after that. According to him, Tehreek-e-Insaf and then PDM are stakeholders. According to Asad Umar, if elections are held at this time, PDM will win in Sindh and Balochistan, while Tehreek-e-Insaf will win in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to him, the biggest stakeholders are the people of Pakistan, who have been facing the worst situation for the last 13 months. In this situation, it is now the responsibility of all of us to get the country out of this situation. According to him, after the year 1971, such dangerous situations have arisen again. Referring to the efforts of the President, he said that a solution should be found through political negotiations.
