Islamabad July 25 2023: Defense Minister Khawaja Asif termed the news of Ishaq Dar as Caretaker Prime Minister as speculation and said that this wish was never expressed by the Finance Minister nor discussed in any party meeting.
Khawaja Asif while speaking in Geo News’ program ‘Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Saat’ said that “Ishaq Dar never expressed his desire to become the caretaker prime minister and we have to take this decision not only together with the coalition parties but also take the opposition into confidence.”
According to Khawaja Asif, this matter came in the media regarding Ishaq Dar. A person in charge of the media indicated this, after which the news started to spread.
He said that “matters should be corrected instead of speculations and these rumors should die instead of flourishing.”
The Defense Minister emphasized his point and said, “I am telling you under oath that I have not spoken to any person from my own party.” I am saying according to my understanding that we should have such an environment in the next three years that fingers are not raised on the transparency of the election.
Without mentioning Imran Khan’s name, he criticized him and said, “One person will use every tactic in the next three to four weeks to question the transparency of the election. He should not be given a chance.”
In response to a question, he said that ‘the Caretaker setup are making legislation for the government because there is a fear of a breach of IMF agreement during the Caretaker setup period, an economist can also be found for the finance ministry with consensus.’
Khawaja Asif said, “According to my opinion, no person who is closest to the political leadership should be in the position of caretaker prime minister.”
