Islamabad December 17 2024: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has increased the gas prices for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGC) for the fiscal year 2024-25 determined under the Review of Estimated Revenue Requirement (RERR).

For SNGPL, the revenue requirement demanded was Rs. 580,744 million, but OGRA approved Rs. 527,548 million. The average prescribed price demanded by SNGPL was Rs. 1,810.38 per MMBTU, while OGRA determined it at Rs. 1,778.35 per MMBTU. This represents a price increase of 8.71% over the current average prescribed price of Rs. 1,635.90 per MMBTU, though SNGPL had requested a 10.67% increase.

For SSGC, the revenue requirement demanded was Rs. 401,655 million, while OGRA approved Rs. 319,817 million. SSGC requested an average prescribed price of Rs. 4,325.24 per MMBTU, but OGRA determined it at Rs. 1,762.51 per MMBTU. This reflects a 25.78% increase over the current average prescribed price of Rs. 1,401.25 per MMBTU, significantly lower than the 208.67% increase requested by SSGC.

The Federal Government has been asked for advice on category-wise natural gas sale prices. Until a decision is made, the existing sale prices will remain in effect.
