On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, sales rose 5% from April 2025. Moreover, cumulative sales for the 11-month period from July 2024 to May 2025 (11MFY25) inclined by 7% YoY to 14.75 million tons, from 13.83 million tons during the same period of the previous fiscal year.

Product-wise, motor gasoline (MOGAS) led the growth with a 15% YoY increase in May 2025, reaching 700,000 tons. High Octane Blending Component (HOBC) posted a sharp 134% YoY rise to 27,000 tons, while jet fuel (JP) drop 16% YoY to 42,000 tons.

Furnace oil (FO) also posted a 16% YoY increase to 80,000 tons. In contrast, high-speed diesel (HSD) inclined 5% YoY to 672,000 tons, and Light diesel oil (LDO) saw a 22% YoY decline.

Among individual companies, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) maintained its market leadership with sales of 642,000 tons in May 2025, down 3% YoY. PSO’s cumulative sales for 11MFY25 stood at 6.53 million tons, a 5% decline compared to the previous year, but it continued to command the highest market share at 44.3%.

Attock Petroleum Limited (APL) sold 137,000 tons in May, down 2% YoY, with 11MFY25 sales totaling 1.298 million tons, reflecting a 7% YoY decline. HASCOL showed strong recovery, posting a 31% YoY growth in May sales to 54,000 tons, while its cumulative sales surged 41% to 489,000 tons. Similarly, WAFI recorded a 23% YoY increase in May volumes to 123,000 tons and a 6% rise in 11MFY25 sales to 1.074 million tons. Cnergyico also reported 14% YoY growth in May sales at 61,000 tons and a 17% increase for the 11-month period, totaling 491,000 tons.

In terms of market share for May 2025, PSO held 41.9%, followed by GO at 11.1%, APL at 9.0%, WAFI at 8.1%, and HASCOL at 3.5%. Despite the decline in cumulative industry volumes during the fiscal year, May’s performance indicates a moderate rebound, supported by rising gasoline and HOBC demand. However, weakness in diesel and kerosene sales remains a concern for the sector.
