Auto Sales Showing Signs Of Slowdown As Sales Drop 11 Percent During November 2021

Islamabad December 13 2021: The entire auto sector excluding Honda Atlas and GHNI remained under pressure with sales declining in the range of 7-30 per cent across segments during the month of November when compared with sales of previous month.

Car sales plunged by 12 percent to 18,714 units during November 2021 compared to the previous month due to higher car prices and measures taken by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) to curb Auto financing. During the month of October 2021 month last year car sales were recorded at 21,002.

Motor cycle sales decreased by 7 percent on Month on Month basis to 163,448 when compared with 174,980 sold last month. Motorcycle sales were also down by 1% when compared with sales of last year.

Hyundai sales dropped the most by 30 percent MoM followed by that of Pak Suzuki drop of 17 percent MoM and 8 percent of Indus Motors.

Pak Suzuki Motors remained the best selling brand with sales of 8,522 units while Indus Motors sold 6,315 units. Honda Atlas sold sales improved by 13 percent to 3,010 units.

Tractors sales dropped by 14 percent Month on Month to 4,617 units as Al-Ghazi Tractor sold 27 percent fewer units and Millat Tractor Sales dropped by 7 percent.

Truck was the only category that posted positive growth during the month of November when compared with October 2021. During the month, 492 units of trucks were sold in the country compared to 441 units during the last month.
