Islamabad December 22 2023: Based on information from the Central Power Purchasing Agency Guarantee Limited (CPPA-G), NEPRA is poised to raise electricity rates by PKR 4.6617 per unit for November 2023 due to the high fuel cost adjustment (FCA).
This is the highest level of fuel cost adjustment requested by DISCOs since June 2022.
As per CPPA’s data, the actual fuel charges for EX-WAPDA DISCOs in November 2023 amounted to PKR 9.4448 per unit including previous adjustments of PKR 2.1177 per unit, marking a PKR 4.6617 per unit increase from the reference tariff.
Nevertheless, NEPRA has established a reference fuel price of PKR 4.7831 per unit for EX-WAPDA DISCOs for November 2023, following CPPA-G’s proposal.
The final decision by NEPRA is expected on December 27th, after considering input from all stakeholders.
