Government launched LawyHER digital platform to empower women

Web and App portal will provide access to legal aid

Islamabad June 17 2021: Justice Rtd Mrs Nasira Iqbal inaugurates unique Pakistani initiative the LawyHER.pk web and App portal. This Digital platform will play a crucial role in institutionalizing a process to access & share timely updated and relevant information and opportunities for women in the legal fraternity.

Today is a special day for the Honorable Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Imran Khan, the Federal Minister of Law and Justice, Barrister Dr Farogh Naseem, and myself.

This digital platform will also provide a secure discussion forum for women in the legal profession, along with a lawyer directory to boost access to legal aid and a bank of resources related to laws, policies and publications. The Government of Pakistan and the Federal MOL&J believes in and is committed to achieving gender equality and child justice by using new technologies and via evidence-based creative synergies to ensure the safe & dignified participation and inclusion of women in all spheres of life in line with our Constitution and the vision of Mohammad Ali Jinnah.Since its creation, PTI has always put women’s empowerment as one of its key priorities. As a Pakistani, a barrister, a politician, a woman, it gives me immense pleasure to synergize with the Pakistani civil society, the WIL network and Group Development Pakistan.

Joanne Frederiksen, Deputy Head of Mission of the AHC and Iona Thomas, Political counsellor, British High Commission also Joined this session.

Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice said this project complements the government efforts to enforce and protect women and child rights. We have passed a law to enforce women’s property rights, another bill was passed by the NA to counter rape. We intend to do more and thank all the women who work with us to make this dream come true as well as all the men who stand by us for this catalytic process.
