Notification Issued For Increase In Export Oriented Captive Power Gas/RLNG Prices To USD 9 Per MMBTU

Islamabad December 01 2021: Petroleum Division issued notification based on decision of Federal Cabinet in its meeting held on 09.11.2021, while considering a Summary submitted by the Petroleum Division for increase in tariff for export oriented sectors.

Federal cabinet approved the proposal of existing Tariff of USD 6.5/mmbtu for Captive Power (self-power generation including cogeneration) use in Export Sectors is revised to US$ 9/mmbtu w.e.f 15.11.2021 to 31.03.2022.

While existing Tariff of USD 6.5/mmbtu to continue to be provided to Export Sectors for gas/RLNG usage in processing (general industrial use) only.

In order to implement the above decision of the Federal Cabinet for achieving desired objective of efficient gas/RLNG use while eliminating misuse of concessionary tariff, SNGPL is advised to take following measures: i. Maintenance of regional database of export units (process and captive) ii. Monitoring of consumption pattern fortnightly especially for use of gas in process and captive. iii. Monitoring and reporting of captive units switchover to power grid through surveillance system including liaison with DISCOs, inspections & other desirable measures. iv. Proper verification of record at regional and head office level before processing of subsidy claims.
