Islamabad May 3 2025: Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation in Pakistan fell to just 0.3 percent year-on-year (YoY) in April 2025, marking the lowest level ever recorded, according to official data. This compares to 0.7 percent in March 2025 and a significantly higher 17.3 percent in April 2024.

Additionally, prices for communication apparatus fell by 1.25 percent, while household items such as washing soap, detergents, and matchboxes saw a modest decline of 0.41 percent.

On a month-on-month (MoM) basis, CPI inflation declined by 0.8 percent in April 2025, contrasting with a 0.9 percent increase in March and a 0.4 percent decrease in April 2024.

Inflation in Urban areas dropped to 0.5 percent YoY in April 2025, down from 1.2 percent in March and 19.4 percent a year ago. On MoM basis, it fell by 0.7 percent versus a 0.8 percent increase in March and a 0.1 percent decline in April 2024.

Rural CPI registered a 0.1 percent YoY decline in April 2025, following no change in March and a 14.5 percent rise in April 2024. MoM inflation dropped by 1.0 percent, compared to a 1.1 percent increase the previous month and a 0.9 percent decrease in the same period last year.
