Prime Minister Announce to Abolish Fuel Adjustment Charges From Electricity Bills

Doha August 23 2022: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has announced the removal of Fuel Adjustment Charges (FCA) from electricity bills.

Earlier, NEPRA allowed K-Electric to charge PKR 9.8 in the bills of August and PKR 6.88 in the bills of August from consumers.

While, NEPRA allowed other electricity distribution companies (DISCOs) to charge PKR 9.89 per unit from customers in electricity bills of August. Moreover, NEPRA is set to increase electricity prices by PKR 4.69 per unit for the month of July 2022 which likely to be charged in September bills due to high fuel cost adjustment (FCA) for DISCOs.

He said that 1 crore 71 lakh consumers of Pakistan will not have to pay additional fuel adjustment charges in the electricity bills, the details of this relief will be brought out tomorrow.

The Prime Minister said that agricultural consumers with tube wells will also be exempted from fuel adjustment.

Speaking in Qatar’s capital Doha, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that the fixed tax on traders has been abolished, after which there will be a gap of 42 billion rupees, which will be covered by other sources.

The Prime Minister said that due to procurement of oil at a high price, it is adjusted in the next month’s bills. There was a significant increase in fuel adjustment in the months of July and August. We were working on fuel adjustment for four to five days. will no longer have to pay fuel adjustment charges.

Shahbaz Sharif said that we are reviewing FCA for 1 crore 3 million consumers, we have to move forward with persistence and courage.
