Lahore May 12 2023: The notification of the extension of Section 144 was issued by the Provincial Additional Home Secretary, according to which there will be a ban on meetings, processions, rallies and all kinds of gatherings within the territorial jurisdiction of Province of Punjab.
It should be noted that many people have been detained for violating Section 144.
Section 144 is imposed to maintain the law and order in the province due to threat of deadly protests from supporters of Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI). Yesterday, a Pakistani court ordered former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s release on bail for two weeks, after his arrest in a land fraud case ignited deadly protests and a tussle with the military.
