Abu Dhabi February 23 2023: EDGE Group entity, HALCON, a regional leader in the design and production of guided weapons systems and beyond, announced it has secured a contract worth AED1 billion with the UAE Armed Forces to supply AL TARIQ-LR (long-range) precision-guided munitions (PGMs).

The new contract will enhance the UAE Armed Forces air strike capabilities through increasing standoff ranges with advanced AL TARIQ-LR PGMs. Additional features from a recent Block II upgrade will also be included.

Saeed Al Mansoori, Senior Vice President of ADVANCED CONCEPTS, said: “We are delighted to be supplying the UAE Armed Forces with AL TARIQ-LR PGMs, which are amongst the best in the world in terms of range, accuracy and modularity. Our commitment is focused on providing a long-range PGM solution that enhances pilot safety while allowing high levels of operational flexibility. As an EDGE entity, we will continue to innovate and achieve our milestones in order to meet the requirements of the UAE Armed Forces and to safeguard national interests.”

The AL TARIQ-LR PGM is part of the mission-proven AL TARIQ family of modular, all-weather, day/night precision munitions, converting unguided aerial munitions into smart, longer-range focused munitions.

The contract highlights EDGE’s dedication to the development of advanced sovereign capabilities in support of the UAE government’s ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative.

ADVANCED CONCEPTS is a new business unit within EDGE which is dedicated to the design and deployment of advanced, innovative technologies. Complementing existing EDGE capabilities in developing, producing, and commercialising new products, ADVANCED CONCEPTS focuses on accelerating the rapid development of critical innovation projects from concept definition and technical feasibility stage (TRL6+) to detailed engineering design, before handing these projects back to EDGE’s large portfolio of companies for industrialisation and commercialisation.
